BOLD vs. Wild-fires

To all Orange County and Santa Barbara residents:

I would like to officially apologize on behalf of BOLD for the fires caused this last weekend due to our high school youth group's organized desert trip; aka BOLD vs. Wild. Every single trip we have planned over the past 3 summers, whether it be for spiritual or recreational purposes, there has a been a fire somewhere in close proximity to us and our destination. They block our travel routes and burn down our campsites. Not to mention all of the houses and personal property that are destroyed in the process.

We at BOLD can only deduce from these 'coincidences' that some other evil is afoot here, and have come to the conclusion that we are the cause of the fires. Not chance, not circumstance. Every time we plan a youth camp or trip, a fire breaks out wreaking havoc and devastation wherever it goes. We are tired of the destruction, tired of the homes lost, forests scorched, and countless tax-payers dollars spent in rebuilding what was lost.

And for what? A youth camp? Or perhaps a three day desert adventure in the wilds of Lucerne Valley shooting firearms and riding quads with our high-schoolers, eating deliciously made chorizo, beef stew, fun-dip and capri sun, sitting around the campfires until the late night moon rises over the hills illuminating everything it touches with its beautiful yet eerie beams? Is it really worth it year after year?

At any rate, I hope to get some photos of the trip to post soon so stay tuned.

P.S. My heart truly goes out to anyone who was affected by the recent fires. Hang in there OC.
